Dr Joe Oliver – Founder
Joe is a consultant clinical psychologist and our founder.
He is an active member of the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS), a peer reviewed ACBS ACT trainer and an ACBS fellow. Joe regularly provides ACT and contextual behavioural therapy training, both nationally and internationally while also hosting our workshops. Joe is an associate professor and overall programme director for the University College London CBT for Severe Mental Health Problems post graduate programme. He has written and co-authored six ACT related books. He is passionate about sharing ideas from ACT and CBS with as many people as possible.
He lives in London with his family. The things he loves most are (in no particular order): all things science fiction, his wife and kids, and Arsenal FC.
Shalyn Oliver – Director/Digital marketing
As a teacher with over a decade of experience teaching in Canada, Japan and the UK, Shalyn has a good eye for detail and depth of knowledge when it comes to conveying complex ideas in clear and concise ways. Shalyn channels her teaching expertise to help the team deliver high quality educational experiences with our workshop and training sessions.
She also uses her experiences to harness social media to share the principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) with a wide audience. She loves finding innovative, creative ways to develop compelling ACT-related content that supports the company’s mission to empower individuals at all stages of their ACT learning journey.
Dr Kristy Potter – Clinical and training director
Kristy is a clinical psychologist who joined the contextual team as clinical and training director after working a variety of clinical and research roles.
Kristy has been passionate about ACT since clinical training where she completed her thesis on using ACT with family carers of people with Multiple Sclerosis. She has also co-authored book chapters on using ACT with neurological conditions. Kristy has delivered both on demand, and live training, primarily within the physical health speciality. Kristy’s research background is primarily within Neuropsychology, including a focus on adjustment and acceptance of long-term health diagnoses. Clinically, Kristy has worked in number of settings, including NHS, Ministry of Defence and in private practice within the UK, as well as working for several years in Bermuda.
Natalie Littlehales – Marketing
Natalie has worked across various sectors over her career, managing the full marketing mix. With a Chartered Institute of Marketing Postgraduate diploma and a BA(Hons) in Media, Culture and Society, Natalie is using her experiences to help us better understand our customers, build our service offering and optimise our brand and marketing communications.
Nikki Powell – Administration
Nikki joined the Contextual Consulting team in April 2021 as our admin and finance assistant, handling our invoicing and email system.
