ACTivate Your Coaching: for Beginners

The aim of this workshop is to build on the foundation set in the initial webinar to take you through the key parts of the ACT model in a coaching context. We will introduce you to the concept of acceptance and how to engage coaching clients with the idea in creative ways. We will discuss up the broad skill set of mindfulness and show you how it can be used across the range of coaching clients. We will take you through the latest methods in working with sticky, tricky thoughts. We will also introduce values-based behavioural change methods

In this introductory workshop you will:

  • Learn how to use and adapt mindfulness for the workplace to build psychological flexibility – the ability to engage in valued behaviours even in the presence of unwanted thoughts and feelings
  • Find out how to help clients in taking committed action in service of their goals, using the power of habit to create sustainable change
  • Learn new ways to enhance your clients’  skilful responding to thoughts and feelings
  • Gain an understanding of what ACT is, the research behind it and how it can support your coaching clients achieve lasting change
  • Experience the tools yourself and gain a powerful, practical toolkit to use with your clients
Your Facilitators

Dr. Joe Oliver is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and founder of Contextual Consulting, the leading provider of ACT training in the United Kingdom. He has working for over 20 years as a practicing psychologist and is currently a programme director at University College London. He also runs a busy London-based private practice, offering ACT coaching and consultations. He is co-author of the book, Acceptance and Commitment Coaching.

Hazel Anderson-Turner is a Business Psychologist who has been used ACT intensively throughout 2020 when supporting the NHS with resilience coaching.  Hazel has developed a specialism in workplace resilience and uses ACT techniques within her leadership masterclasses and team resilience workshops.
