The ACT fruit bowl metaphor

This metaphor is a simple, practical way to describe the “self”. It is helpful to remind us not to get too attached or over-identified with particular narratives about ourselves (either the good ones or the bad ones). They are just one part of our experience.

By understanding the different aspects of the Self, the ACT fruit bowl metaphor helps us cultivate a more flexible and compassionate relationship with our experiences. Instead of getting caught up in the content or process, we can develop a sense of perspective and create space for acceptance and values-based action.
