Three tips to be happier at work – Ross McIntosh

Ross McIntosh shares three simple tips to be happier in the workplace as part of our ‘Expert tips for ACT’ series.

  1. “Pay as much attention to your time outside of work, as you do to your time in work.” Setting clear boundaries and making time for home and rest is crucial to be happier in the workplace.
  2. “You are not your thoughts.” We sometimes have unhelpful thoughts and give too much attention to them. Putting distance between them and ourselves can help us see them for what they are, and make better choices.
  3. “Take the first step, the step you don’t want to take”. Sometimes this can be the hardest, but by taking the first step you are getting started.

ROSS MCINTOSH designs and delivers evidence-based skills training to support adults in realising the possibilities for themselves and the workplace. With a particular focus on psychological well-being, adaptability and recovery from work his approach is founded in contextual behavioural science and alongside Dr Paul Flaxman they design, deliver and research ACT Workplace Training for both the public and private sector.
