In this exercise we talk about the thing the client cares about as the HEART. We call the tricky feelings that show up when they move towards it the WAVES. WAVES are ever present, but their intensity rises and falls with each wave. This worksheet is a simple guide through DNA-V, creating a space for young clients to name both their HEART and WAVES, then to think about their advisor and discoverer moves.
About the hearts and waves exercise
This exercise uses four simple steps to walk clients through the hearts and waves metaphor and think about an action that they can take
- Name your heart – What’s something you care about, want more of, or wish you could do?
- Notice your waves – When you imagine moving towards that hear, what feelings show up?
- Listen to your advisor – What does your advisor say when your waves show up?
- The move – one small, doable step towards your heart
