About this workshop
Join Professor Russell Kolts, renowned expert in compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and leading authority in working with anger for a highly practical and informative training session that promises to revolutionise your approach when working with clients struggling with anger issues.
During the workshop, we will explore the dynamics and maintenance of anger problems from a CFT perspective, emphasising non-shaming approaches to help clients understand and work through their anger. We will delve into the reasons why anger problems can be challenging to address, explore techniques to assist clients in taking responsibility for their anger-related behaviours, and guide clients in cultivating a commitment to change their relationship with anger. Essential tools will be provided to support clients in incorporating these changes into their daily lives.
Throughout the workshop, you will have the opportunity to acquire key skills, including:
- Developing a CFT conceptualisation of anger and effectively communicating this to clients.
- Assisting clients in recognising their anger triggers, cycles, and responses.
- Building, strengthening, and utilising the therapeutic relationship when working with clients experiencing anger.
- Facilitating the transition from the threatened mind to the compassionate mind.
- Engaging clients in exercises to strengthen their compassionate self.
- Equipping clients with strategies to manage anger-related shame, enabling them to align their actions with their desired self-image.
And much more!
This intermediate level workshop has been designed for practitioners who already possess some familiarity with the CFT model but would like to extend their understanding to apply compassion-focused strategies to problematic anger and anger-related issues.
Russell has already authored two books on this subject “The compassionate-mind guide to managing your anger” and “The anger workbook” with learnings from these titles and more being put into practice in an accessible and engaging way during these sessions.
