Taught by Dr Joe Oliver, Dr Kristy Potter, Dr Ray Owen and Dr Elisabeth Baker, our ACT pathway combines on-demand and live online learning, plus quarterly interactive Q&A sessions to help you upskill from beginner to experienced ACT practitioner.

The pathway:

Part one: ACT essentials
-

On-demand training: A practical introduction to acceptance and commitment therapy. This first session is on-demand so that you can start your ACT journey right away, in your own time and at your own pace. With nine modules covering the core ACT processes and practical applications plus worksheets, videos, eBooks and exercises to get you started ahead of the first Q&A in early March.

Part two: ACT next steps
Live online training: The foundation for meaningful client work. This live online workshop builds directly on the foundational skills introduced in ACT essentials by deepening your understanding and refining the skills you’ve learnt so far. You will also learn how to address common practical challenges when applying ACT principles. Taking place 24th & 25th February 2027: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM UK/BST- Interactive Q&A session: Deepening your ACT skills – 13th April 2027 7:00PM UK/BST
Part three: ACT intermediate skills
Live online training: Focusing on context and practitioner process. Designed for practitioners with a foundational understanding of ACT, this session will take you beyond a protocol-driven approach and onto developing a more flexible, responsive, and process-based way of working with ACT. Through integration of conceptual clarity with real-world clinical application, this third section will build your confidence and competence in delivering ACT. Taking place 28th April & 5th May 2027: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM UK/BST- Interactive Q&A session: Troubleshooting ACT in practice – 8th June 2027 7:00PM UK/BST
Part four: ACT mastery
Live online training: Working dynamically and functionally. This final session will give you the skills to refine and adapt your ACT practice, with a focus on real-time awareness, contextual flexibility, and personal development. This workshop provides practical strategies for working effectively across varied contexts while deepening your understanding of your own processes as an ACT practitioner. Taking place 7th & 14th July 2027: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM UK/BST- Interactive Q&A session: Applying ACT with confidence – 14th September 2027 7:00PM UK/BST

Who the ACT pathway is for
This series is designed for mental health professionals who want to develop confidence and depth in acceptance and commitment therapy. It suits:
- Psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, mental health nurses, social workers, OTs and other helping professionals who use talk-based interventions.
- Coaches and wellbeing practitioners who already have some experience supporting clients with behaviour change.
- Anyone new to ACT who wants a structured journey from first principles to skilled, flexible use of the model in real clinical work.
- Practitioners with some ACT training who want to fill gaps, refresh their knowledge, and move toward dynamic, process-based practice.
