As 2025 draws to a close, it feels fitting to pause and take stock of what has been a truly inspiring year for us. It’s not just about ticking off achievements or counting milestones but about the stories behind them, the connections we’ve nurtured, and the incredible ACT community that makes everything we do at Contextual Consulting possible.
This year has again been a tapestry of growth, learning, and meaningful collaborations. So, before we turn the page to 2026, let’s look back at the chapters we’ve written together in 2025.
Expanding our global community
I’m incredibly proud of connecting with practitioners in over 100 countries worldwide. That’s more than just a number; it’s a testament to the shared commitment and curiosity within our global ACT community.
From students to seasoned professionals, the team has worked hard to ensure that high-quality training is accessible, offering discounted opportunities to those in developing nations and those just starting their careers. And the response has been humbling, in addition to those of you joining us for training, over 33,000 people have followed us across our social channels to learn, share, and grow together.
Creating spaces for learning and connection
2025 saw us host 29 live workshops, each one a chance to connect in real-time, to share experiences, and to dive deeper into the nuances of ACT. With over 120 hours of CE-accredited live training and now 170+ hours of on-demand content too, we’ve worked to create flexible, enriching learning opportunities for practitioners everywhere.
One personal highlight was the launch of the ACT essentials programme, the culmination of distilling years of training experience into a brand-new beginners ACT programme. It involved a lot of planning, refinement, testing, resource curating and late-night video editing! With nine modules packed with video demonstrations, metaphors, and experiential exercises, it’s been thrilling to see so many of you embrace this resource and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with those of you that also sign up to the ACT pathway.
Of course, we were also honoured to welcome Russ Harris to the UK for an in-person workshop, the feedback was amazing from you all and we are pleased to be hosting another live in-person session in 2026 – Trauma-focused ACT. As always, his enthusiasm and relatable teaching style brings ACT to life in an accessible, but most importantly usable and inspiring way.
More free articles and resources
We’re passionate about equipping our community with practical, evidence-based resources, and both our resource hub and knowledge hub have grown this year. Whether it’s tools, techniques, or the latest research, the team has poured energy into ensuring you have what you need to thrive in your practice.
It was great to launch the second edition of 100 key points and techniques alongside my co-author Rich Bennett earlier this year. This gave us the opportunity to update the research literature, review new developments, techniques etc and was a great chance to refine and refresh our original text. It was also great to be able to include a greater appreciation of diversity issues this time, including, for instance, the application of ACT across different groups and cultures.
I also really enjoyed hosting a “Meet the authors” event for BABCP members with my ACTivate your life co-authors Jon Hill and Eric Morris. It was great to introduce the principles to practitioners who were new to ACT or wanted to learn more and to answer specific questions from the audience.
I also joined a few podcasts this year including Mentally Flexible, The Thinking Mind Podcast and Life’s dirty little secrets, waxing lyrical about ACT (of course!) and various related topics. If there are other things you would love to see us share/create next year, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
Supporting each other in the work
I know how vital it is to feel supported in this field. In 2025, our dedicated team of clinical psychologists provided nearly 300 supervision sessions to practitioners. We also introduced group supervision this year, a new way for practitioners to share, reflect, and learn from one another. It’s been fantastic to see the sense of community and solidarity that’s emerged from these sessions. Big thanks to Ray, Kristy and Elisabeth for hosting these so brilliantly.
We also referred over 500 therapy sessions to our team of clinical psychologists showing that as well as supporting and training practitioners we are committed to getting clients the help they need too, and the good reputation of ACT therapy is spreading.
The importance of the ACT community
Some moments of 2025 have reminded me just how powerful collective action can be too. One of those was the launch of the first-ever ACT situational judgement test, developed by Kathryn Jamison, David Curran, Ross White, and Victoria Samuel as a practical way to assess how well practitioners apply ACT-consistent principles in realistic clinical situations. We were thrilled to see that independent research quantified how our ACT workshops led to significant improvements in participants’ applied ACT knowledge and we are excited to share even more learning opportunities with you next year too!
Our ACT Values Cards raised another £1000 for the Sanjiwani Public Health Service Health Mission in Nepal. It’s a small but meaningful way to give back, and it’s a reminder of the impact we can have when we come together as a community.
Looking forward
As we stand on the threshold of a new year, I can’t help but feel excited about what’s to come. Whether it’s through workshops, resources, or initiatives, I know that 2026 will be another year of growth, learning, and shared purpose. To each of you who has been part of this journey with us – thank you! For your curiosity, your commitment, and your belief in the power of ACT to make a difference.
Here’s to another year of inspiration, connection, and meaningful work.
Stay connected and stay inspired – there’s so much more to come!
Thanks again, Joe
