As we build towards the end of another calendar year it’s a great time to look back, appreciate and reflect upon our journey over the last 12 months.
With over 140 hours of new live CE accredited training, 250+ supervision sessions, 600+ therapy sessions and a plethora of free resource and advice provided, we hope we have expanded your own horizons of ACT education and practice, with the ultimate goal of making therapist’s work more fluid and improving psychological well-being.
This year, we introduced 22 live workshops, and crafted specific on-demand sessions too following user feedback. This allowed us to reach practitioners in over 100 countries worldwide, offering the flexibility for everyone to learn at their own level and at their own pace. Complementing this, we launched our FREE Introduction to ACT, making acceptance and commitment therapy practices more accessible than ever and hosted Siri Ming for Frame x Frame: a comprehensive introduction to RFT. We still proudly offer discounts to professionals from developing nations, alongside special student discounts, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder access to quality education.
Our knowledge hub launch became a beacon of learning, offering almost 50 free articles that explore the basics of ACT across various issues. Coupled with our resources section, which boasts hundreds of free downloads, book chapters, and videos, these platforms have hopefully been instrumental in supporting practitioners in their ACT journey. We took the time to develop our YouTube channel, speaking to our wider training team for some expert tips and Joe recorded a series of ACT basics videos so that the principles of our therapy can be shared in an easy to understand way to anybody who is interested.
Some other significant milestones included:
- The launch of our first non-English course, “Understanding cognitive defusion from an RFT perspective” which underscores our commitment to inclusivity and global reach.
- We became an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, further cementing our reputation for quality education.
- A relaunch of “ACTivate Your Life!” in a user-friendly workbook format, providing powerful tools for setting meaningful goals.
- Joe gave the opening plenary at the UK & Ireland ACBS conference. You can read a summary of the talk on our blog: ACBS UK and Republic of Ireland chapter conference: keynote speaker summary
Our commitment to social responsibility was evident with our ACT values cards relaunch, in conjunction with Dr Louise Hayes, raising upwards of £2250 for the Sanjiwani Public Health Service Health Mission in Nepal. We made a conscious effort to continually engage with our community too; our social channels grew to over 28,000 followers, reflecting the vibrant and expanding interest in ACT principles.
One of our core business values is to share ACT’s transformative ideas with as many people as possible, so we hope that we have helped your own personal journey in some way this year. We’ve collated our achievements for this year in this short video:
Whether you’ve attended one or more of our live events, watched an on-demand recording, recommended us to a colleague, used our resources, or interacted with us on social media, we appreciate it all.
So what’s next?
Looking forward to 2025, we will start the year with two fantastic sessions in January, ACTing it out with chairwork – intermediate level hosted by Dr Tobyn Bell and Dr Matthew Pugh and Siri will return to host Using RFT to build psychological flexibility.
We are excited to be hosting our first in-person session for a while when Dr Russ Harris joins us in London next May. Our training schedule is filling up too, with some new courses for 2025 including Thriving in sport, Emotion efficacy training and Internal family systems. Following feedback from our users we are also bringing in some more intermediate and advanced sessions including How to enhance interventions using process based behaviour therapy (PBBT) with Yvonne Barnes-Holmes and an intermediate-level skills masterclass with Lou Laspragato. Niklas Törneke joins us for a practical users guide to Using metaphors in psychotherapy and popular trainers such as Dr Patricia Zurita Ona, Russell Kolts, Dr Louise Hayes, and Dr Ray Owen will be returning too.
A huge thank you
As we bid farewell to 2024, we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us on this adventure. Here’s to another exciting year ahead in 2025, as we continue to innovate and inspire within the ACT community, promoting acceptance, mindfulness, and committed action in all that we do!
