Zooming out

This exercise emphasises the importance of not fixating on a single snapshot as this can reflect only one aspect of our lives. Human beings are complex, with experiences that are rich and multifaceted. The metaphor encourages stepping back to appreciate the variety of moments that define an individual; whether they are working, having fun, or navigating times of fatigue and frustration. Life is a continuous evolution, and no one needs to be limited by a single narrative or perspective. Instead, it’s about holding these snapshots lightly and embracing the bigger picture, celebrating the ever-changing journey of life.

This metaphor can be helpful for clients to help them understand the diversity of ways that they can depict themselves.
